Description
Hormozi Coffee UK is proud to present our Japanese Matcha Ceremonial Tea — a product that is as much a cultural experience as it is a cup of tea. Sourced from the renowned tea-growing region of Kakegawa in Shizuoka prefecture, where the climate and soil are considered among the finest in Japan for Matcha cultivation, this is a tea of exceptional quality and purity. Ground from whole organic green tea leaves into a fine, vibrant powder, our Matcha delivers the complete aroma and nutritional profile of the entire leaf — nothing extracted, nothing lost — in a way no other tea can match.
Packaged in organic quality at the tea factory in northern Germany, each batch honours the tradition of the Japanese Chanoyu tea ceremony, where the preparation of Matcha is regarded as both an art and a meditation. Mildly herbal, naturally unflavoured, and strikingly green in the cup, our Japan Matcha Ceremonial Tea is an invitation to slow down, be present, and nourish both body and mind with every bowl.
The Ingredients
Japanese Ceremonial Matcha Powder — Made from whole shade-grown green tea leaves from Kakegawa, Shizuoka, this Matcha is exceptionally rich in antioxidants, chlorophyll, and L-theanine — supporting immune function, metabolism, and a state of calm, focused alertness that sets Matcha apart from any other caffeinated drink.
How to Brew the Perfect Cup
- Heat Your Water — Bring water to 70–80°C (158–176°F). Matcha is delicate — boiling water will make it bitter and dull its vibrant green colour. Boil and rest for 2–3 minutes if needed.
- Measure Your Matcha — Use approximately 1–2 teaspoons (1–2g) per 100–150ml of water. Start with 1 teaspoon for a lighter, more delicate Usucha style, or 2 for the thicker, more intense Koicha style.
- Sift Your Powder — For the smoothest result, sift the Matcha powder through a fine sieve into your bowl before adding water. This eliminates clumps and ensures a silky, even texture.
- Whisk — Pour a small amount of hot water over the powder and whisk vigorously in a W or M motion using a bamboo whisk (chasen) until a smooth, frothy layer forms on the surface. Add the remaining water and whisk again.
- Sip and Enjoy — Lift the bowl with both hands in the traditional style and enjoy the tea as is — no milk, no sweetener. Let the natural umami depth and gentle bitterness speak for themselves.
Pro Tip: Matcha is incredibly versatile beyond the bowl — whisk it into warm oat milk for a Matcha latte, blend it into a morning smoothie, or stir it into yoghurt for a powerful antioxidant boost.
